Running on trails and exploring new places is now one of the most enjoyable forms of vacation. If you are a passionate runner, it allows you to do exactly what you love and at the same time experience new places, people, and customs. You go on vacation and run there. You can even prepare for specific running challenges. During running vacations, you take care of personal readiness. When running, you socialize with other runners, exchange experiences, advice, and perhaps even find the love of your life. You can run for several consecutive days, cover longer distances, and connect two places into one story of all the beauty. You can run with a guide, with a running expert.

FASTPACKING

A Combination of trail running and ultralight backpacking

Important for trail running is that the runner has everything necessary, the most essential things and equipment for running. But an unwritten rule is that the runner should run without unnecessary “baggage” so that weight minimally hinders the run. Running on trails should be relaxed; the runner should complete the chosen distance with less effort, run more easily, and walk more relaxed. This is where fastpacking comes in, an activity where you run wherever you can and walk where it’s more challenging due to steepness, terrain, distance, openness of the terrain, fatigue. Fastpacking is essentially a “light and easy” way of covering distance. It is a combination of trail running and ultralight backpacking, creating a true experience. To achieve the goal – connecting multiple “support” points into a total distance – less time and effort are needed than with additional weight and equipment.

GOOD  QUALITY SUPPORT FOR A COMFORTABLE RUN

For such running challenges, where connecting the route, for example, hut-to-hut trail running, other support is crucial for success – an organization that accompanies the runner. Support on the route; with food, means for regeneration, as well as with equipment and the possibility of basic hygiene. Such support requires a precise process, a list of all necessary actions for quality support of runners and ultimate success. Even when it comes to running vacations, consisting of fastpacking from point to point, attention to the organization of accompanying activities is needed; transportation, food, accommodation, regeneration, help with spatial orientation, navigation, instructions, … Even at a running camp, where we have, for example, one accommodation base, good organization of all necessary accompanying activities is needed, allowing the runner to run and experience the most good things comfortably.

Croatia offers unique trail running stories. Running from island to island – Islands hopping – in Dalmatia is everything a runner seeks: an exceptionally natural environment, unforgettable trails, plenty of exploration, and the experience of authentic running journeys.

Typical scene: a runner traverses secluded mountain trails, embarking on a challenge to reach the final destination. This destination is a mountain hut nestled in the mountains, offering comfort and basic rest. When the runner connects these huts together, it becomes a hut-to-hut trail running experience.

We take care of professional running preparations in the form of performance camps and conduct teaching of running technique and basic mountaineering for involvement in the skyrunning industry. Our main concern is that the runner runs relaxed and safely and can expect full support – care before, during, and after running. Running is an exceptional activity that takes place in diverse environments, where nothing should be left to chance for success and satisfaction.

JUST CRAZY ABOUT…

Hiking in the mountains is one of the most popular activities in Slovenia and many Slovenians are just crazy about conquering the two thousand-meter peaks in the Julian Alps. One can’t escape the mountains in Slovenia, for the mountain chain stretches through two thirds of the country. That is why a large majority of the population is in love with the mountains, especially the Julian Alps, which are considered the pride and as a little mantra of the Slovenians.

HIKING & HUT TO HUT TREKKING

The Julian Alps are considered as one of the most beautiful and best for hiking and multi-days, hut to hut trekking tours. Excellent mountain huts, mostly built in the former Century, open their doors to hikers and visitors between June and October. The paths in the Julian Alps are well seen and marked. With a good map of the area, some preparation and proper hiking equipment, one can take a challenge of crossing the Julian Alps in a relatively safe way. There are numerous routes and they well connect the valleys with mountain huts – at the secluded areas of the mountains also with basically equipped bivouacs and of-course they connect the valleys with the top of the mountains as well. Julian Alps are serious mountains due to their heights and weather dynamics! I will not go into detail and describe the feeling when a storm surprises a hiker in the middle of a sunny summer day, but I can tell you that it is not pleasant at all. One needs to take these mountains seriously and approach them with respect.

JULIAN ALPS FOR EVERYBODY

I have hiked in the mountains for the past thirty years and many things have changed in this time. Julian Alps were once reserved only for true hikers, but one can find paths nowadays in the lower parts of the Alps, which are also appropriate for families and all who are not such good walkers on a demanding terrain. There are also more and more demanding routes or via ferratas, where we need extra climbing equipment and knowledge – suitable for experienced hikers. The most beautiful hiking tours are the ones, which connect mountain huts at various parts of the Julian Alps into a multi-day trekking tour. Once you are up from the valley, you don’t have to descend down, but walk from hut to hut and do the distances. There is enough comfort in the huts for spending several days in the mountains.

MAGICAL, UNIQUE AND SEDUCTIVELY BEAUTIFUL

Julian Alps are magical, unique and seductively beautiful. It is an unspoiled mountain world of high peaks, sharp ridges and mountain lakes. We can easily highlight the Triglav Lakes Valley with its magical symphony of nature and lakes. A bit to the West is the Krn Lake, which is surrounded by beautiful mountains. The area that surrounds the highest Slovenian mountain – Mt Triglav, a 2864 meters summit is remarkably dynamic and surrounded by steep walls, which emphasize it as a center point of the Julian Alps. The majority of the Julian Alps belong to the Triglav National Park, which has a task of protecting the unspoiled nature of the area.

THE JULIAN ALPS – A “MUST DO”

After so many years of active hiking and climbing in the Julian Alps, I find that I have just now put the mountaineering equipment a bit to the side and began to explore this mountain pearl in all its variety. I enjoy the mountains by walking the easier paths as well and I explore the forests and pastures with my family. I can see the spark in the little eyes and I know that I am passing on the passion for these mountains and nature. The Julian Alps are a “must do” – at least once in a life time.
